Expert dental bone grafting at Muirhead & Associates

When tooth loss, gum disease, or injury causes the jawbone to deteriorate, bone grafting rebuilds the necessary volume to support dental implants securely. At Muirhead & Associates, Ahmer Imtiaz holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry and has successfully placed 84 implants across 50 patients in just two years.

We offer socket preservation, ridge augmentation, and sinus lift procedures using advanced digital workflows to plan every detail of your treatment pathway.

What is a dental bone graft?

A dental bone graft is a surgical procedure that rebuilds lost bone volume in the jaw, creating a stable foundation for dental implant placement. Common types include

  • Socket preservation (placed immediately after extraction)
  • Ridge augmentation (rebuilding wider areas of bone loss)
  • Sinus lift procedures

A sinus lift, also called sinus augmentation, involves gently lifting the sinus membrane and placing graft material beneath it to increase bone height in the upper jaw, this helps create space when implants are needed in the back tooth region. The grafted bone integrates naturally over several months, creating the strength needed for long-term implant success.

How much does a dental bone graft cost?

Every bone graft procedure is different, and the cost can depend on the type of procedure, the extent of your bone loss, and the graft materials used. During your consultation, Ahmer Imtiaz will provide you with a comprehensive quote that covers all your fees, with no pressure to go ahead if you're not comfortable.

You can cover the cost of your bone graft procedure with 0% finance over 10 or 12 months, or up to 60 months at 9.9% APR.

Your assessment

We begin with a thorough clinical examination and digital imaging to assess bone density, volume, and the precise location where grafting is needed. Ahmer will explain which grafting technique is right for you and answer all your questions before any treatment begins.

Your procedure

On the day of your procedure, you'll receive local anaesthetic to ensure complete comfort. The graft material is carefully placed into the prepared site and, if needed, secured with a protective membrane. Most procedures take between one and two hours depending on complexity.

Healing and next steps

Healing typically takes between three and six months, during which the graft integrates with your natural bone. We'll schedule follow-up appointments to monitor progress, and once fully healed, your dental implant placement can proceed with confidence.

How do I know if I need a bone graft?

If you've been told you need a dental implant but have experienced bone loss due to missing teeth, gum disease, or injury, a bone graft may be necessary to ensure implant success. You might also need a sinus lift if there isn't sufficient bone height in your upper jaw.

During routine dental check-ups or implant consultations, our team will assess bone volume using digital scans and X-rays. If grafting is recommended, we'll explain exactly why it's needed and what the procedure involves, so you feel fully informed every step of the way.
